Today is the nineteenth day of the seventh month of the year two thousand-twelve. The word love in the Greek is define as Arouse which is an erotic love. Agape, which is an unconditional love. Storge, which is a the type of love you find between family members, and Philia, which is a brotherly love. I have been told that I am like the modern day David because when I praise the Lord I am radical and undignified. I have been blessed to minister the Gospel around the world without even leaving my room to literally thousands of people! I AM A POWERFUL & INFLUENTIAL christIAN!
Crazy right? I know many of you, who don't know me personally, may be saying WHOA...Stancil has really started to get besides himself. I'm not sure if I can continue to read his encouraging words. The interesting thing about this is this is how we as a body of Christ have become.
How many times have You found yourself saying, man I want to be like Bishop when I grow up or I want the be like that basket ball player, or like that singer or dancer? Your standards have been lowered to desiring to be like something that's temporary!
I was talking to my lady friend a couple of weeks ago, as well as the mother of a dear friend of mine on yesterday and we all were talking about the same thing, God's standard and how it has been diluted to fit mans comfort. Why do you think that is?
Well I can say I believe it is because we have simply, TAKEN THE FOCUS OFF CHRIST AND PLACED IT ON CHRISTIANS!
And you can see this to be evident in the body of Christ today. How many times do you see the older men, in today's church, reaching out to the younger men to mentor them and bring them up to standard? You don't! The disciples had Jesus, Elijah had Elisa, but who do the younger men of today have? What message are we, as a sick & spotted body sending to the world? Our we say Hey, We will love you with the love of a christIAN brother and teach you how to behave in a building that, in reality isn't the church its just a space that houses the church on Wednesdays & Sundays, Tuesdays & Saturdays depending on your denomination. That is another devotional all together.
What I am trying to communicate is that there is ONE standard, Christ not christIAN! We should be sharing Christ's standard and challenging people to come up out of their mess to obtain a higher standard! Not lower the standard to pacify people in their hurts, sorrows, & sins. It is not for us to do anything but what we were instructed to do be the ULTIMATE source, which is Christ! Yeah, sorry, I know you thought you were the source that got all those people saved and it was you that got your co worker delivered from alcohol & porn, and it was you that changed your husband or healed your wife, BUT IT WASN'T! You are not the source of ANYTHING, or a resource from THE SOURCE chosen to do a particular job! Lets get back to the basic of Leading people to be like CHRIST and not like christIANS! And now your quote of today...
If to create from nothing is impossible & to recreate is inevitable, I ask whose standard are you living by? The Created Standards of Christ or the recreated standards of christIANS?- Stancil M. Brown
